Papa

I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with you at one of your skin cancer screenings. My name is Ellen and for the past two years, my mother, daughters, and family members have run/walk “This Run’s for Jack”.

You see, my Dad, also named “Jack”, although not diagnosed with Melanoma, did suffer from both basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer. So in a different way, this run is for “our Jack”.

My Mom celebrated her 80th birthday on September 28th.

Last year as we were talking about how to celebrate such a wonderful occasion, we asked Mom how she wanted to celebrate. Knowing she wasn’t one for a big party, we were thinking of a smaller gathering with some of our closer relatives. However, Mom had a different idea – she wanted as many of our immediate family as possible to run/walk “This Runs for Jack”.

On October 16, 2011, we will run as “Papa’s Team”.

We will run in memory of your husband Jack, in honor of my Dad, Jack, and celebrating my Mom, Ellie.

Thank you for the difference you have made in Melanoma research and the memories you have made for others such as our family.

Sincerely
